When you buy a home in Schoolhouse Lofts Condominiums, you’ll own a part of Cincinnati history. The classic Romanesque design of the Schoolhouse inspired educational excellence. Henry E, Siter, partner in the architectural firm of Anderson and Siter, envisioned a modern school that would promote learning with 16 bright, cheerful classrooms, a gymnasium, a laboratory and a library. Now the classic design inspires Smart Living as a bold adaptive re-use into inviting  condominiums for modern urban living. For nearly a century, the Schoolhouse served the students of Cincinnati, many from the surrounding neighborhoods. In 1895, this elegant building opened its doors as the original Walnut Hills High School. In 1931, when Walnut Hills High School moved to its new home on Victory Parkway, it became Burdett Elementary School. From the beginning, Walnut Hills High School embodied excellence in education and scholastic achievement. Its college preparatory classes rivaled those of the best private schools in the East. True to the vision of Cincinnati School Superintendent Randall Condon and Principal George Davis, it earned a reputation as one of the finest public high schools in the country – a reputation it enjoys to this day.  Over the years, thousands of students passed through the Schoolhouse’s arched, sandstone doorways. Many would later become distinguished citizens of Cincinnati – elected officials, judges and lawyers, civil rights leaders, doctors and corporate executives. All contributed to the history of Cincinnati and helped build its future.

Buildings, like people and neighborhoods, must change with the times. In 1979, Burdett Elementary School closed it doors for the last time. But in Fall, 2005, the Schoolhouse will be reborn as a residential development with 31 loft condominiums.  Make Schoolhouse Lofts your new home.  Enjoy Smart Living in an educational landmark of Cincinnati history.
